Abstract

Outspokenness, goodwill, sense of humour help downplay ten-sions, avoid misunderstandings, quarrels, conflicts in intercultural communication. One way to develop a sense of humor is to work with authentic humorous literature which helps better understand the culture, mentality, world perception of other people. The paper investigates the appropriateness of using humorous literature at foreign language classes; offers exercises that can be used while working with this literature. Methodology: theoretical analysis of psychological, pedagogical and methodical literature, personal work experience analysis. Practical implications: foreign language teaching.
