Abstract
Abstract: The present article analyzes forms of female mediation in Carlos Maynes , the last work included in MS h-I-13 (Biblioteca de San Lorenzo de El Escorial). The latter is a mid-fourteenth-century collection that includes saints' lives as well as the stories of queens such as Sevilla, who are accused of adultery. This article shows how in Carlos Maynes the empress Sevilla is associated with hagiographic models, has important family ties, and her body serves to mediate female royal power and facilitates peace.
