Abstract

This chapter presents a study on 1,492 Christian and Muslim adolescents from Germany and Palestine and their attitudes towards specific political, socio-economic, and environmental human rights. It specifies the influence of personal, societal and cultural factors on the support of human rights. The chapter elaborates the theory of human rights as a personal, societal and cultural project. It uses a social theory framework for considering the factors contributing to the support of certain political, socioeconomic, and environmental human rights. The chapter explores the differences between Christians and Muslims. The results of the study highlight that Palestinian support for political rights was significantly higher than the German support. The mean for Palestinian Christians was 3.69 while the mean for Palestinian Muslims was 3.86. Keywords:Christians; Germany; Human Rights; Muslims; Palestine; political rights
