Abstract
Abstract : Twelve subjects took part in an experiment involving a continuous information transmission task. Three different code types and two levels of stimulus redundancy were used; the stimuli were binary digits and the subject's task was to code the stimuli into verbal equivalents of letters of the English alphabet. The results indicate that transmission rate is unaffected over the range of variables used in the study, i.e., subjects transmit information at a constant rate under a variety of experimental conditions.
