Grotius’s position on war is considered in this article as an attempt to mediate between political realism and moralistic pacifism. Although war is an inevitable consequence of the permanent conflict in human relations, it can be adjusted to the principles and rules of common natural law and ius gentium resulting from the consensus among peoples.
