Abstract

The most important event in adolescent girls' puberty is the arrival of the first menstruation or menarche, which is a biological sign of sexual maturity. During menstruation, young women often feel uncomfortable, so they pay less attention to their own health. In general, maintaining health starts with maintaining cleanliness. This also applies to the health of the reproductive organs, especially during menstruation. The research objective was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation in young women at SMAN 1 Palangka Raya. This study used approach cross-sectional and analytic observational, namely research that was conducted at the same time on the research subjects. This study examines the relationship between the level of knowledge of adolescents about menstruation and hygienic behavior during menstruation among young women. It is known that of the 30 students, most of them have less knowledge as 43.3%, sufficient knowledge is 30.0%, and good knowledge is 26.7%. Meanwhile, personal hygiene behavior during menstruation was mostly in the poor category, namely 50.0%, the good category was 26.7% and the moderate category was 23.3%. The results showed that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation in young women (p =0.000; X2 = 30.022), so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation in young women at SMAN 1 Palangka Raya.
