Abstract
Umbilical cord care is care carried out on the umbilical cord to avoid infection in the baby's umbilical cord. Try to keep the umbilical cord dry, make sure it is not wet or damp because damp conditions trigger the growth of germs that cause infection. The high morbidity and mortality rate of newborns throughout the world is caused by infection, so correct and good umbilical cord care is needed to reduce the risk of infection and reduce IMR. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between postpartum mothers' knowledge of umbilical cord care. From the research results, it is known that good umbilical cord care with a length of umbilical cord removal <1 week is as many as 16 respondents (88.9%) while a length of time to remove the umbilical cord is >1 week, namely as many as 2 respondents (11.1%). Poor umbilical cord care with umbilical cord removal time <1 week was 7 respondents (50%) while cord removal time was >1 week, namely 7 respondents (50%). The results of the analysis of the relationship between umbilical cord care and length of umbilical cord removal using the formula x2 (chi square) with p value = 0.015 (P < 0.05). So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the umbilical cord and the length of time the umbilical cord falls off.
