Maria Theresia Sri Hartati, M.Pd., Kons.This research was conducted based on the phenomenon at MTs Al Asror which showed that the level of aggressive behavior of broken home students was in the high category. On the other hand, the level of emotional regulation of broken home students was in the high category. It could be shown from the gap between theory and phenomenon that occurred. Supposedly, if the broken home students had a high level of emotional regulation, the aggressive behavior was in the low category. This study aims to: (1) determine the level of emotional regulation, (2) determine the level of aggressive behavior, (3) determine the relationship between emotional regulation and aggressive behavior of broken home students at MTs Al Asror.The research design used was ex-post facto, with the sample used amounted to 74 of 579 student population with the sampling technique using purposive sampling technique. The data collection tools used a scale of emotional regulation and a scale of aggressive behavior. The validity of the research instrument used construct validity and its reliability used the Cronbach Alpha formula. The analysis technique used was descriptive quantitative analysis and inferential statistical analysis with the product moment correlation technique.The results of the quantitative descriptive analysis showed that the level of aggressive behavior of broken home students was in the medium category and the level of emotional regulation was in the low category. The results of inferential statistical analysis showed a negative and significant relationship between emotional regulation and aggressive behavior (r = -0,460 p = <0.01).Based on these results, counseling teachers are expected to provide guidance and counseling services related to emotional regulation and aggressive behavior to broken home students so broken home students can develop their ability to regulate emotions so that the aggressive behavior shown by broken home students is reduced.Keywords: emotion regulation and aggressive behavior.
