Abstract
It is widely acknowledged that NHS primary care services are struggling to cope with demand. NHS England's General Practice Forward View, published in April, highlights 'unprecedented pressure on practices, which impacts on staff and patients'. It also points out that small changes in GP capacity have a big effect on demand for hospital care.
