Abstract
This chapter describes the latest developments relating to IATA Resolution number 787. Whilst the Computer Reservation Systems (CRSs)/Global Reservation Systems (GDSs) are successfully investing in new technologies to enable the display and the booking of optional services, when shopping for a ticket, IATA came up with a new model for distribution called New Distribution Capability (NDC). The framework for NDC was created by IATA Resolution 787. Travel agents, and their associations, the Global Business Travel Association and GDSs are opposed to NDC. One of the most vocal opponents of NDC is the Business Travel Coalition (BTC). BTC stresses that price transparency is the lifeblood of competition in the airline industry. The European Commission and Parliament have recently entered the debate with regards to Data Protection issues surrounding NDC.
