Abstract

To search for the Higgs boson systematically, the process e+e−→μ+μ− + anything, in which the Higgs boson may appear as a spike in the missing-mass plot, isin principle a good candidate. Unfortunately, at a center-of-mass energy of 30 GeV, the design luminosity of PEP and PETRA is far below the level necessary for it to become useful. However, the situation is expected to improve as the total beam energy approaches the Z-boson mass.
