Abstract
As a team of supervisors of midwives (SOM) we are proactive in ‘promoting childbirth as a normal, physiological event’ (NMC, 2006). We have signed up to decreasing the caesarean section rate in our trust, in particular, the high number of repeat caesarean sections that are carried out. As a way forward we held a meeting with our obstetric colleagues to arrange the initiation of a vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC) clinic.
