Abstract

Measurements on constant temperature hot wire anemometers in steady flow have been carried out to determine the dependence of the anemometer signal on the angle of yaw, the support orientation and the wire length to diameter ratio. The calibration results are subsequently applied to turbulent flow measurements. Evaluation of the first and higher order correction terms to the hot wire signal is carried out for both single and X hot wires.
