Abstract
A number of conflicting semi-empirical heat transfer laws for forced convective heat transfer from fine hot wires have been reported, e.g. Collis and Williams (1959), Bradbury and Castro (1972) and Koch and Gartshore (1972). It is shown that the discrepancy between these results can be explained by the use in some experiments of a non-ideal 'constant temperature' feedback system.
