Abstract
The hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of extruded ZE41A magnesium alloy has been studied using the processing map. The compression tests were conducted in the temperature range of 250–450 °C and the strain rate range of 0.001–1.0 s −1 to establish the processing map. The dynamic recrystallization (DRX) and instability zones were identified and validated through micrographs. The observations were performed in order to describe the behavior of the material under hot forming operation in terms of material damage and micro-structural modification.
