Abstract
Where do we come from? How do we turn into the people we become? The first answer is probably from our parents. How does this happen? Wrapped like a giant squid around the whale of nature, nurture has fought hard against the vast and powerful flukes of evolution and genetics; but the great, splashing conflict between nature and nurture for dominance in the wild seas of development has been partly resolved with a compromise, signified by an “x” that does not so much mark the spot as indicate that a map is being drawn, and we’re pretty sure there’s treasure to be found.
