Abstract

The research involved determining experimental heat transfer coefficients for pure R152a and R13B1 and for four mixtures of these refrigerants. The mixtures yielded sharply lower heat transfer coefficients than either pure refrigerant. Correlative evidence suggests that full suppression of nucleate boiling is easier to achieve with mixtures than pure fluids. Existing correlations were compared to the data with success for both pure and mixed fluids.
