Abstract
ABSTRACT A total of thirteen wells have been drilled in the carbonate reservoirs and eight wells in the sandstone reservoirs. Currently there are eight wells in progress. These wells represent the first horizontal wells drilled in Saudi Arabia. This paper will present generalized case histories for both carbonate and sandstone horizontal wells. It will also discuss well plans, drilling fluids, casing, cementing liner, coring, logging, and completions. In addition, problems encountered during drilling will be discussed.
