Abstract
ABSTRACT Previous studies on the temperature-dependent electrical conductivity σ(T) of n-CuInSe2, n-CuIn3Se5, and p-CuGa3Te5 reported the observations of two temperature regions in which variable-range hopping (VRH) conduction occurs in each of the samples, but cannot explain their origins. In the present study, the σ(T) data have been critically analysed using a model which includes not only VRH conduction but also nearest-neighbor hopping (NNH) conduction in addition to free-carrier conduction. As a result, the σ(T) curves have been deconvoluted into the contributions from VRH, NNH, and free-carrier conduction to prove that the two temperature regions of VRH are only apparent.
