Abstract

Dielectric resonator antennas excited by hook- and 3-D J-shaped probes are studied. The lower part of a cylindrical dielectric resonator is modified into an air-filled cylindrical recess to house the feed. Bandwidth higher than 30% is achieved with the proposed feeding mechanisms. The DRAs are excited in the broadside mode within the matching range. The proposed excitation methods are suitable for wideband dual polarisation applications with two or four orthogonal probes excited within the dielectric resonator.
