Abstract
In the 215-year history of Kharkiv Higher Medical School there are manyglorious names that have made a significant contribution to the formation anddevelopment of various branches of domestic and world medical science. One of them is,undoubtedly, the Honoured Professor Nikolai Serheevich Bokarius, a well-known figure ofhigher education in Ukraine, a prominent national scientist, forensic medical man andcriminalist, a reformer and organizer of higher medical education, modern forensicmedical service and forensic expertise in Ukraine; a talented teacher, linguist andeducator; one of the founders of the postgraduate medical education in Ukraine; initiatorand organizer of the First All-Ukrainian Forensic Medical Congress. This article isdedicated to the 150th anniversary of his birth.
