Abstract
Hongjiang Ancient Commercial City is the earliest, largest, and most complete commercial town in inland China. With its long history, profound commercial road culture, and well-preserved ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this ancient commercial city has become a model for the integrated development of literature and tourism. The findings indicate that Hongjiang Ancient Commercial City is grappling with issues related to hygiene, protection awareness, development level, popularity, the loss of Aboriginal people, and the inheritance of traditional skills. Therefore, it is crucial to foster sustainable tourism development by enhancing health management, enhancing protection awareness, stepping up development efforts, raising awareness, safeguarding indigenous culture, and preserving traditional skills. At the same time, the ancient city is also adapting to the needs of modernization, improving living conditions in order to protect historical and cultural heritage, and further promoting the development of tourism.
