Abstract

High-angle double-crystal X-ray diffractometry (HADOX) has been applied to examine the quality of La2-x Srx CuO4 single crystals grown by the travelling-solvent floating-zone method. The two-dimensional intensity distribution in reciprocal space is measured at room temperature for 0014 with CoKα1 radiation. Measurements are made over a range of 7 mm along the axis of growth at intervals of 1 mm. It is found that the crystal contains small part of different orientation with slightly different chemical composition Δx<0.002. In a limited region, the crystal is well orientated and the composition is homogeneous.
