Abstract

Professor Neuborne mourns the passing of Louis Favoreu as the “First Citizen” of the emerging “rĂ©publique du droit constitutionnel mondial.” Professor Neuborne recounts how Professor Favoreu initiated him into the workings of the French Conseil Constitutionnel, enabling him to compare the French and U.S. methods of constitutional adjudication. He observes that Doyen Favoreu's tireless efforts to explain and defend the work of the Conseil Constitutionnel played a major role in expanding the practice of constitutional judicial review throughout the world.
