Abstract
AbstractThis chapter addresses social injustice directed to homeless people. It consider how social injustice affects the health of homeless people, including their health status, substance abuse, obesity, and sedentary lifestyle, mental health, mortality, health care access and utilization, and disparities in health status. The chapter also addresses roots and underlying issues concerning this social injustice, and what needs to be done. It concludes that consideration of the health of homeless persons globally should not be limited to addressing their health and substance abuse problems, but also should address attitudes toward the treatment of the poor worldwide, as well as welfare and housing policies.
