Abstract

Holyrines A ( 4) and B ( 5), two new members of the indolocarbazole class of alkaloids, have been isolated from cultures of a marine actinomycete and their structures elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. The holyrines are possible intermediates in the biosynthesis of staurosporine ( 1).
