Abstract

Electrooptical effect, kinetics of recording and erasing of the hologram of the flat wave front in the films of polycomplex 4-methacryloyloxy-(4′-carboxy-3′-oxy)azobenzene with cobalt and 4-carboxy-3-oxy-3′-carboxy-4′-oxyazobenzene with cobalt are investigated for the first time. The electrooptical properties of the films are caused by spatial reorientation of dipole moments of the azobenzene groups induced by polarized light. These properties can be explained by occurrence of the forces effecting on the dipole moments and metallic ions in the external electric field. The characteristic time of the electrooptical effect as well as the time of formation of the holographic diffraction gratings are larger in the polymer with intra-chain coordination of the metallic ion.
