Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 context, many events decide to cancel, postpone, or to be held fully virtual. The International Conference on Digital Economy ‘ICDEc’ team decided to organize a fully online edition from June 11th to 13th, 2020. This paper outlines the main solutions that ICDEc team selected in line with the conference goals and positioning. Indeed, the business model of an international online conference would require changes related to targeting strategies, value proposition, registration fees, organizational capabilities, and technical tools. Based on organizers’ recommendations in published reports of conferences held fully in a virtual mode, this paper emphasizes on the importance of clarifying the driving principles that guided the conference team choices.
