Abstract

Many children and adolescents are subjected to social vulnerability situations that bring up the need to consider the impacts of life conditions in the educative process. School is a source of social support and there is the need for the continuing education of teachers based on the understanding and coping of this reality. The objective of this research was to describe and analyze the experience of a program for the training of middle-school educators on the possibilities of using educational games with children under vulnerable social situations. This case study utilized the qualitative approach and had the participation of 14 middle-school teachers; data collected through questionnaires and focal groups were analyzed through thematic content analysis. Results, which were expressed in the following theme categories: Concepts of Social Vulnerability, Causes and Consequences of Social Vulnerability, Education and Social Vulnerability and Occupational Therapy Intervention Evaluation, indicated the potentialities of partnership between education and occupational therapy professionals for facing the situations of social vulnerability in school
