Abstract

Ho3+‐doped SrBi2Nb2O9 multifunctional ferroelectric ceramics with bright green light emission and good electrical properties were fabricated in this work. Under blue light excitation, samples showed bright green light with two typical emission bands: a strong green emission centered at 545 nm corresponding to the intra f‐f transition from the excited 5S2 to the ground state 5I8 and a relatively weak red emission located 653 nm induced by the 5F5 → 5I8 transition of Ho3+. Due to the concentration quenching effect, the intensity of emission was strongly dependent on the doping concentration. Furthermore, the electrical properties have improved by Ho3+ doping. At x = 0.004, samples exhibit optimal electrical properties with high Curie temperature (Tc = 441 °C) and large 2Pr and d33 values (2Pr = 15.54 µC cm−2, d33 = 19 pC/N). These results demonstrate that the SBN‐xHo ceramics possess excellent multifunctional properties to achieve a variety of applications.
