Abstract
Aim: to understand the stories of care and the implications of using foot reflexology in the elderly. Method: action research, in which foot reflexology sessions were conducted in elderly residents of a long-stay institution located within Paraiba. The production and analysis of the narratives were made from March to June 2012, through thematic oral story, which originated three themes: The pains of body and soul, Teas and massages, Care through the feet. Results: diffuse pain and sleep difficulties were the main complaints reported, for which the elderly used teas and massage as therapeutic resources. Besides alleviating the previously mentioned problems, the realization of reflexology provided well-being, relaxation, anxiety relief and improved quality of sleep. Final considerations: the integrative practices enable a comprehensive care to the elderly, since they are easy to apply and promote relaxation and well-being
