Abstract

The paper presents a chronological overview of the research on the finds and sites of the Late Iron Age in the wider Celje region. The research is presented from two perspectives—excavations and discoveries as well as explanations and interpretations related to them. In the light of new research and findings, the claims made by some older archaeologists have been re-evaluated and their relevance verified. The paper aims to clarify some of the problems of current interpretations as well as to provide their overall synthesis.
