History of Geophysics, Volume 4

Abstract

This is the fourth volume of a series that was initiated in 1984 upon recommendation of AGU's Committee on the History of Geophysics. The series seeks to gather historical articles from the various AGU journals and present them in collected form for a wide and diverse audience of scientific and historical readers. Volume 3 was based largely upon previously unpublished contributions to the history of hydrology presented at two AGU symposia. The other volumes in the series, including Volume 4, focus on the interests of AGU members—geomagnetism, seismology, space physics, meteorology, tectonics, water resources, and so forth.
