Abstract
The past few years have seen a burst of interest in discipline‐specific history within the scientific community. Within the Hydrology Section during the past year such interest has resulted in the formation of a History and Heritage Committee. This committee will function as a subgroup of AGU's Committee on the History of Geophysics, which was established in 1981. The History and Heritage Committee is still in the embryonic stage, and all members of AGU with interests in this area are invited to participate in the shaping of its philosophy and activities.
