Abstract
We briefly describe the origin and development of classical Algebraic Number Theory. We state some latest results regarding discriminants and integral bases of pure number fields as well as sextic number fields defined by irreducible trinomials with integer coefficients. A few open problems regarding class number of algebraic number fields are also mentioned.
