Abstract
The article deals with the historic and philosophic connotations of the problem of freedom in the margins of classical paradigm of philosophizing. The phenomenon of freedom is extremely mysterious and complicated. Freedom at the formal level is perceived as a condition for the realization of rights of man and citizen. But the meaning of this concept is diverse for different people, and the ways of solving the problem of freedom are sometimes quite opposite. The authors explore freedom as an idea and value, a legal norm and an ethical principle, a social reality and a characteristic of the practical life of society and individual
