HISTORICAL MEMORY OF EASTERN UKRAINE RESIDENTS ABOUT SOVIET REPRESSION IN THE WESTERN REGIONS: CURRENT STATE OF HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE PROBLEM

Abstract

Summary. The purpose of the research is to determine the range of scientific works of domestic researchers in the most complete way which examines certain aspects of the historical memory of the inhabitants in Donetsk region about the Soviet repressions in the western regions of Ukraine. The research methodology, used in the article, determines the methods of historiographical analysis, synthesis, typology of scientific areas and comparative analysis.The scientific novelty of the obtained results is determined by the fact that for the first time the analysis of the historiography of the problem of Donetsk residents historical memory about the Soviet repressions in the western regions was carried out taking into account the heuristic levels of this scientific problem. Conclusions. The source base of the problem was identified, which consists of published and unpublished memoirs of participants and eyewitnesses. A range of the most informative works of local lore was established, the authors of which addressed the historical fate of the victims of Soviet repressions, including internally displaced people from the Western Ukraine to Donbass. The author reveals and analyzes a complex of scientific researches in which the problems of the western Ukrainian population in Donetsk region are raised and also investigates the basic maintenance and results of those works in which the modern condition of historical memory of inhabitants of Donetsk region is covered. The novelty of the work is also determined by the analysis of various measures to commemorate the events, the introduction of historical information about these events in the educational process, local toponyms etc. This social phenomenon is examined in the context of the peculiarities of the historical memory of the inhabitants of Eastern Ukraine in general and about specific events in particular. The emphasis is on the practical significance of the problem, as historical memory is one of the important factors in the formation of national identity and strategies of social behavior. The conclusion of the article summarizes the state of the source base and historiography of this problem, which makes it possible to successfully continue research in this direction.
