Abstract

The historical seismicity of the Adriatic coast in the Marche region is insufficiently defined, partly due to problems of a seismological nature and partly to problems concerning the available historical sources, or the lack thereof. A preliminary investigation performed on the more important towns of this area, has pointed out the inconsistencies (mainly of a historical nature) in the known image of some events, but it has also brought to light new and valuable sources of local interest.
