Abstract
The article highlights the prerequisites for the emergence of the profession of concertmaster (accompanist) in Russian musical art before the beginning of the XIX century. The features of the development of accompaniment and its practical application are considered. The ways of formation of concertmaster art are revealed, in connection with the appearance of opera troupes and a large number of music salons, as well as the increasing role of piano accompaniment.
