Abstract

The article presents various historical clues that carry ownership marks placed in books over many years. The inspiration for the creation of this article was the provenance of ink stamps placed on the pages of Gustaw Daniłowski's poem "On the Island", a publication in the collection of the Main Library of UMCS. On the basis of the ink prints read, the authors of the article follow the fate of Lublin residents and socio-cultural organizations from the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Thanks to the information obtained about the owners of trademarks, the authors have the opportunity to present the documented path of both the book itself and people associated with it at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
