Abstract

HAT1 is an essential gene in mammals that acetylates newly synthesized histone H4 and is involved in chromatin assembly and genome maintenance. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Gruber etal. (2019) show that HAT1 binds to and stimulates H4 gene expression in a growth-factor- and glucose-dependent manner.
