Key Points Abnormal or excessive hair growth is a common concern at presentation.It is important to differentiate hirsutism (androgen-dependent) from hypertrichosis (unrelated to androgen release).Premature adrenarche, which is more common in girls than boys, is most often benign and requires no intervention beyond reassurance.Polycystic ovarian syndrome is the most common endocrine disorder affecting adolescent girls.
