Abstract

Research Article| October 01 2021 Hindsight Beyond 2020 BlackLiq BlackLiq BlackLiq is an MC, FM radio DJ, public speaker, teacher, and activist who has been described by Richmond, Virginia, publication Style Weekly as “a pillar of Richmond’s HipHop Community.” He is the president of No Other Way Records and a DJ at WRIR 97.3 FM and WDCE 90.1 FM University of Richmond, where he is also the hip-hop programming director. He teaches hip-hop creative writing to the middle school students of Sabot at Stony Point. His message of empowerment through the path of identity is the core of his work. He is known for his music and TED Talk “NOW: No Other Way,” and advocates for an art-integrated curriculum in public and private schools. He works to inspire others via the multiple facets of his success and dedication to hip-hop to pursue their calling rather than wait to be called.
