Abstract

The ν 1 + 3ν 3 band system of natural acetylene has been recorded with Doppler-limited resolution using a titanium:sapphire ring laser together with a intracavity photoacoustic detection method. The ν 1 + 3ν 3 band appears by far as the strongest feature in the spectrum but there are many weaker bands nearby. In the wavenumber region 12 450-12 800 cm −1 we have analyzed rotationally 19 overtone and hot bands belonging to the 12C 2H 2 species and 2 overtone bands belonging to 12C 13CH 2. Many of the observed bands show perturbations. Some of these have been analyzed successfully with Coriolis or Fermi resonance models.
