Abstract

The photoacoustic overtone spectrum of monochloroacetylene (monochloroethyne, HCCCl) has been recorded in the wave-number region 9500–14400 cm −1 with a titanium:sapphire ring laser. The spectrum shows several vibration—rotation band systems of which 3ν 1+ν 2 and 4ν 1 have been recorded with Doppler-limited resolution. Many overtone and hot bands belonging to 35Cl and 37Cl species have been analyzed rotationally. Some of the observed bands show rotational perturbations. Two of these bands have successfully been interpreted as a Fermi resonance pair.
