Abstract
We have demonstrated high-power generation of 16-μm pulses of second Stokes waves by stimulated rotational Raman scattering in ortho-deuterium. An annular pump beam from the unstable resonator of a CO 2 power oscillator was converted in a multiple pass cell, giving energies of second Stokes pulses in excess of 300 mJ.
