Abstract

The authors present a uninterruptible power supply (UPS) using a new control method, and provided with a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) power converter and PWM inverter. The UPS has an insulated gate bipolar transistor as the semiconductor switching device, and provides for direct digital control by the application of a microcomputer. This UPS has also made possible a sine input current through the use of digital calculation, and an input power factor of 1.0 through microcomputer control. This unit has realized a highly reliable switching system through synchronous control of the bypass power supply and converter with a digital phased locked loop comprising a microcomputer. >
