Abstract

A capacitor-comparator based time-difference amplifier (TDA) is presented. The proposed TDA has a larger input range and linear operation region with less sensitivity to process variations. The TDA has been simulated in a 0.18 μm CMOS process to validate the proposed architecture. Simulation results show less than 1.7% gain error for ±20 ns input time difference range, which is larger than the range of conventional TDAs. The proposed TDA consumes 115.76 μW from a 1.8 V supply.
