Abstract
This paper presents a low-profile low pass filter integrated elliptical-shaped monopole filtering antenna for the UWB frequency range (3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz) with dual band notch characteristics. Proposed filtering antenna fabricated on the FR-4 lossy substrate, which is cladded by copper on both sides of it. Rectangular with circular added slot is etched out from the ground to provide better impedance matching. A low pass filter with cut off frequency of 11 GHz has been integrated with the 50 Ohm microstrip line to incorporate selectivity at the higher frequency band of UWB. Two rectangular split ring resonators (R-SRR) have been incorporated to produce the notch at interfering bands. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement with the reflection loss above 10dB in the pass band and below 5dB at band notch frequencies. Wide stop band reported after 11GHz up to 20 GHz due to low pass filter. Similarly, reported gain and efficiencies are also suffice the requirement of RF front end system of the modern wireless communication system.
