After several years of working with the Common Core, teachers appear to be settling in, making major changes in their instruction and largely embracing the new standards, according to a new report. About half of the 4 million Syrian refugees who have left Syria because of its five-year-old civil war have been children. The deterioration of Syria’s education system meant that many children arrive in refugee camps already at an educational disadvantage. While many school districts and charter management organizations are investing in programs to develop more transformational leaders, they rarely have a plan to deploy these people effectively within an individual school setting, says a study of school leadership. Perception is the key to resilience.
